As soon as you step into this mountain forest, you will be filled with shock. This place is far beyond your expectations. It is simply a paradise for mountain climbing enthusiasts, cave art enthusiasts, text culture seekers, ancient temple lovers, and humanities and history lovers. If time could go back, I would really like to witness with my own eyes the splendor of this ancient temple in the mountains that originated in the Eastern Jin Dynasty during its heyday. What a magnificent scene it would be with smoke rising from the sky, believers gathering and Buddhist chanting lingering in the air. Unique charm 1. Historical glory: It was once a Buddhist holy place as famous as Mount Emei in ancient times. The great writer Su Dongpo also studied here, leaving behind a story that has been passed down through the ages. It has a profound cultural heritage. 2. Art treasure house: The mountains are dotted with cliff carvings from the Tang and Song dynasties, each of which embodies the exquisite craftsmanship of the ancients; the inscriptions by famous people from past dynasties are even more dazzling, like a history book engraved on the rocks. 3. Easy Climbing: The climbing difficulty is relatively low and even children and elderly people can easily complete it by just taking the main road. Most of the mountain trails are shaded by green trees, making walking on them cool and pleasant. 4. Calligraphy of famous artists: Su Dongpo, Huang Tingjian, Shao Bowen and many other masters have left their calligraphy here. These words are engraved on the rocks and still exude a unique charm after years of baptism. Zhongyan Temple was listed as a national key cultural relic protection site in 2013, and it is well deserved. Core Landscape 1. Huanyuchi: It is said that the three characters "Huanyuchi" are the handwriting of Su Dongpo. In the stone carving on the lower left, there is a cave with a rare statue of Guanyin in peasant woman's clothing and carrying a basket, which is full of life. On the cliff beside it, there are dense inscriptions by famous artists of all dynasties, which are dazzling. 2. Buddha Cave Chuanyun: Formerly known as "Niutouqiao", there is a cave passage behind the God of Wealth in the cave. It was rumored in ancient times that it could lead to Meizhou. Although it is no longer accessible now, it still adds a mysterious color to this place. 3. Buddhist statues in the Brahma Palace: The cliff carvings and inscriptions on the rock walls that stretch for miles are the essence of this place. There are more than 2,000 stone carvings of various sizes, most of which are from the Tang and Song dynasties. Although most of them have been damaged, the solemnity and sacredness of the Buddha statues can still be felt through the traces of time. 4. Fairy Bed: Located at the highest point of the Thousand Buddhas Corridor, the entire cliff carving is high above, as if overlooking everything in the world, with extraordinary momentum. 5. Yuquan Rock: The two words "Yuquan" left by Huang Tingjian are vigorous and powerful. This was once an elegant place for scholars and writers to brew tea and recite poetry. Today, on the rock walls of the Half Dome, one can still see clear or blurred inscriptions, telling of the elegance of the past. 6. Jingde Temple: The original ancient temple had five floors and was once very popular. Although only the column bases and foundations are left today, one can still imagine the original grandeur. The temple rebuilt on the original site in modern times is still a place for people to worship Buddha. 7. Lingyan Bamboo Shoots (a regrettable sight): There are sixteen niches on both sides of the cliff, which originally housed sixteen bronze Buddha statues as the treasures of the temple. But now they are empty, which is a pity. Turning to the back of the stone peak, you can see the original lecture platform. The vigorous words on the rock wall silently tell the glorious history.
