The Earth’s Palette

In the golden autumn of October, embarking on the Qinghai-Gansu loop set off a visual feast that transcends time and space. At the start of the journey, the morning light at Zhuo'er Mountain draped the Danxia land in a golden veil, with autumn colors soaking the landscape in breathtaking beauty. Next, the quiet Aru Temple’s prayer flags fluttered, conveying sincere blessings. Entering the Hexi Corridor, the grandeur of Jiayuguan was awe-inspiring; standing on the city tower, one could almost hear the echoes of camel bells from a thousand years ago. The colorful Danxia of Zhangye resembled "God’s spilled palette," dazzling brilliantly under the sunset. In Dunhuang, the melodious Singing Sand Dunes and the clear Crescent Lake compose the most touching poem of the desert. Arriving in Qinghai, the scenery became even more ethereal. Emerald Lakes looked like emeralds embedded in the Gobi Desert, pure and translucent. The "Mirror of the Sky," Chaka Salt Lake, reflected the blue sky and white clouds; walking on it felt like strolling among the clouds. The journey’s end, Qinghai Lake, merged its vast blue with the horizon under the clear sky, magnificent and sacred. Over eight days of travel, we were blessed with endless clear skies. The tour leader’s witty and professional explanations and thoughtful arrangements made the trip safe and fulfilling; a group of interesting fellow travelers went from strangers to close friends, filling the journey with laughter and joy. This was not only a pilgrimage through mountains and rivers but also a warm journey of the soul, with every frame of scenery treasured in the heart.
