Today, blue prints are also used as clothing, patterns on items, pillows, fans and other daily necessities to embellish people's lives, and more and more people are attracted by the blue and white patterns. Blue printed cloth is a traditional Chinese hollow-plate white pulp resist-dyeing printing. In a broad sense, blue printed cloth includes tie-dyeing, batik, clip-dyeing and gray-dyeing. Although the anti-dyeing methods are different, the finished products are all blue and white floral cloth, so they are collectively called blue printed cloth. In the narrow sense, blue printed cloth refers to the blue and white floral cloth dyed with indigo plant as dye, soybean powder and lime powder as dye slurry, engraved paper as the plate, and filtered and leaked for printing. It has a history of 1,300 years, and its main production areas include Nantong, Tongxiang, Lanling and other places. Generally, it can be divided into two forms: blue background with white flowers and white background with blue flowers. The former only uses one flower plate for printing, and the spots that make up the pattern are not connected to each other. The latter often uses two flower plates for overprinting. The first one is called "flower plate" and the second one is called "cover plate". The function of the cover plate is to cover up the connection points of the pattern plate and the places where blank space is needed, so as to more clearly set off the blue pattern. As a traditional intangible cultural heritage, its path of inheritance and development is full of surprises.
