Qiandao Lake Scenic Area

Qiandao Lake Scenic Area, also known as Xin'anjiang Reservoir, is located within the territory of Chun'an County, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is 129 kilometers east of Hangzhou and 140 kilometers west of Huangshan, covering an area of 982 square kilometers, situated in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta. Qiandao Lake is 129 kilometers from Hangzhou City and 140 kilometers from Huangshan City, bordering Lin'an City to the north, Changshan County to the south, Kaihua County and Quzhou City to the southwest, and bordering Tonglu and Jiande counties and cities to the southeast, and Anhui Province to the northwest. The lake shape of Qiandao Lake is like tree branches, with a total of 1078 large and small islands scattered throughout. The islands in Qiandao Lake vary in shape, with a distribution that is both sparse and dense, arranged in an orderly fashion. Its main attractions include Meifeng Island, Monkey Island, Longshan Island, Suo Island, and Santan Island, among others. In 1982, Qiandao Lake began to develop its tourism industry. In November 1986, the Qiandao Lake Scenic Area was approved by the Ministry of Forestry as a national forest park. In 2001, the Qiandao Lake area successfully established itself as a national 4A-level tourist attraction. In 2002, the Qiandao Lake Scenic Area was recognized as a demonstration area for the protection of tourist consumer rights in China and a demonstration area for Zhejiang youth civilization. In 2010, the Qiandao Lake Scenic Area was rated as a national AAAAA-level scenic spot. On December 29, 2022, the Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Scenic Area was selected as part of the 2022 national list of sports tourism demonstration bases.
