[Egypt Travel] Temple of Queen Hatshepsut 👸The Magnificent Dream of a Female Pharaoh

Queen Hatshepsut was the first officially crowned female pharaoh in ancient Egyptian history. She commissioned the construction of this magnificent temple, integrated into the rock face, to demonstrate the legitimacy of her rule. Located at Deir el-Bahari on the west bank of Thebes, the temple's three-tiered terraces echo the steep cliffs, creating a magnificent spectacle. Inside, one can see the sacred image of the cow goddess Hathor, a symbol of female strength and the guardian of music, love, and beauty. However, our tour guide reminded us that most of the buildings we saw were recently rebuilt and restored by the Egyptian government, leaving their original appearance in disrepair. Having already visited numerous millennia-old ruins, the temple's "reconstructed" feel was a bit of a turnoff. Still, it's admirable to see this resilient queen, who, in a male-dominated era, established a temple to demonstrate that women could become pharaohs. #Egypt #egypt #SeptemberDestinations2025
