Located in the charming town of Methoni in the Messinia region of Greece, this fortress is a stunning example of medieval architecture. The entrance fee was only €3, which felt like a steal for the rich history and impressive views you get. The castle’s walls, towers, and moat are remarkably well-preserved, and wandering through the stone passageways made me feel like I was stepping back in time. The panoramic views of the Ionian Sea from the castle are absolutely breathtaking. 🏰🌊 Nearby, the picturesque town of Methoni offers lovely cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy local Greek cuisine and take in the seaside atmosphere. Additionally, the nearby Bourtzi Castle on a small islet is worth a visit, adding another layer of historical intrigue to the trip.
