Meizhou Island Trip: Practical Tips and Experience Sharing 🏝️

#discoverchina I just returned from Meizhou Island and I have to share some insights! It's a fantastic spot, especially for families traveling with kids. Having visited many coastal areas in China, I can confidently say that Meizhou Island is a hidden gem, even more suitable for kids than Pingtan Island. It’s the birthplace of the Mazu deity, adding cultural depth to its charm. Getting There: From Putian Railway Station: After exiting, turn right to the bus stop. You can take the K09 bus (only 9 RMB), or a taxi for about 40 minutes to Wenjia Pier. Self-driving: Cars cannot go on the island, so you’ll have to park at the pier parking lot (30 RMB/day). Ferry Tickets: You can purchase tickets online or on-site for 125 RMB (round trip, no time limit). Children under 6 years old or under 1.2 meters in height are free. The ferry departs frequently, with the last one at 9 PM. It’s a spacious two-level boat, with a 15-minute travel time—just enough for a breeze and no seasickness! Transportation on the Island: Electric Bikes: Rent an electric bike for around 40 RMB/day to explore the island. Alternatively, you can rent a small electric car or book a sightseeing bus. The island is small, only about 25 kilometers around, so a full circle can be done in under 1 hour. Taxis: You can also arrange with your accommodation to find a taxi for you, and they’ll arrange pick-up and drop-off. #naturalwonders #travel
