Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple, also known as Mazu Temple, is the first Mazu Temple in the world and the origin of Mazu culture. *Location: Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple is located on Meizhou Island, Xiuyu District, Putian City, Fujian Province. *Architectural layout: 1. Central axis. The Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple complex is laid out along the central axis of the front hall, built along the mountain, forming a main temple road with a depth of 300m and a height difference of more than 40m. The main temple road is connected by 323 steps from the mountain gate and the ceremonial gate to the main hall, linking the various groups of buildings on both sides. On the top of the ancestral temple, there is a 14m high giant stone statue of Mazu. 2. West axis and south axis. The entire Mazu Temple complex is laid out in a vertical and horizontal pattern, divided into a west axis and a south axis. The west axis includes 36 large and small buildings, such as the archway, long corridor, mountain gate, imperial edict gate, bell and drum tower, main hall, Chaotian Pavilion, Shengtian Building, Buddha Hall, Guanyin Hall, Wudi Temple, Zhongjun Hall, Aixiang Pavilion, Longfeng Pavilion, Xiangke Villa, and Sixiang Villa. The south axis complex includes large buildings such as the sleeping hall, the Tianhou Palace, the Wufang, the Xian Hall, the bell and drum tower, the mountain gate, the archway, the Tianhou Square, and the Tianhou Theater. *Main buildings: The sleeping hall, main hall, and Shengfumu Temple of Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple are the main buildings of the ancestral temple complex and the main carriers of Mazu belief in the ancestral temple.
