Harbor Panorama

Mrs. Macquarie's Chair is located on a peninsula in the center of Sydney Harbor. The chair was hand-carved by convicts in 1810 and dedicated to the wife of Major General Macquarie, the Governor of New South Wales. According to folklore, Mrs. Macquarie enjoyed sitting here to take in the panoramic view of the harbor. One can imagine that if the convicts had such a beautiful spot to work, they would certainly be willing to come here to carve, perhaps even doing so meticulously and slowly.
