A Day Trip In The Porto Area

Our first full day in #porto and as it looks like rain the rest of the week we travelled on the Metro up to #matosinhos , the fishing port of Porto. There's a beautiful Brutalist fish market to visit before wandering along a half mile parade of #seafood restaurants and choosing S. Valentim for a spectacular lunch of grilled squid, sardines, sautéed greens and rice. We then wandered down to the vast sandy beach to look at the sculptures and were particularly impressed by Anémona (She Changes) which resembles an enormous set of fishing nets fluttering in the wind. A 501 coastal bus took us south along the coast via Foz and up the Douro back to see the beautiful tiling of the #saobento railway station. #seafoodrestaurants
