Se Catedral Hotel: A must-stay hotel in Porto, Portugal! Exceeded the expectations!

This Se Catedral is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, which brings together many original upscale hotels that cater to guests seeking reliability and value in independent hotels. I must say, the decor of this hotel is truly unique! Location: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The hotel is right next to the cathedral, and all attractions are within walking distance, so we didn’t spend any money on public transportation. If you’re taking a taxi from the airport, I’ve attached a guide (pictures 8–11) on how to get there easily through the metro, avoiding uphill climbs. Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Before check-in, the hotel emailed me a travel guide—so thoughtful! At check-in, I received a complimentary welcome drink and dessert, which were available for self-service. They even helped with the luggage. Other details can be seen in the photos ⬆️. Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m very sensitive about hotel cleanliness, especially the smell, which can really affect the stay. This hotel’s towels, pillowcases, etc., had no strange smells and were perfectly clean! The cleaning was thorough, and I couldn’t spot any dust. The water pressure was great, making showers very comfortable. You can stay here with peace of mind! Room: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I booked a Standard Twin Room, about 200 sqft. The only downside was that the bathroom was a bit small, but everything else was fine. I stayed for just three days, so size wasn’t an issue for me. Safety: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On our second morning, we left the room and didn’t hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign, as there was no sign on the door. When we came back, we found that the room had been tidied, including all the skincare and cosmetics we had left on the table. Though nothing was missing, I did feel uneasy knowing someone had entered the room without us knowing. This could’ve been avoided if I had informed the front desk. It’s not a major issue. Soundproofing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m sensitive to noise when sleeping, and during my stay, aside from door opening and closing, I couldn’t hear any noise from neighboring rooms. I slept very soundly. Room Amenities: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures are common in Europe, so most hotels don’t provide toiletries or kettles. This hotel didn’t have them either, but I called to request them, and they were delivered right away. Water can be refilled for free, just by calling. Surprise Factor: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ See picture 4️⃣. Overall Experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One sentence: If you’re coming to Porto, stay at this hotel! I’m very picky about hotels, and I can responsibly say this one is excellent! Oh, and breakfast is only an extra €10 per person, which is super reasonable! #favouriteitinerary #porto #travel

Visiting Porto was magical 🗺️

Luís I Bridge

Porto has surely gained a lot of attention over the last few years, and for good reasons: it’s vibrant, colorful, easy, not expensive at all and you can get everywhere on foot! As soon as I stepped out of the São Bento station right before sunset I was invested by the energy of this city and started exploring every part of it, starting from the Dom Luis I bridge over the Douro river, which is definitely the first stop I suggest to have a fantastic view of Porto and its prominent Ribeira district. What I loved the most was wandering through its steep, colorful alleys that are still incredibly authentic and mostly untouched. Put in some good, comfortable shoes then get lost in this part of the city. At the top of the city there are some incredible churches, like Igreja do Carmo and Capela das almas: these two have some amazing facades entirely covered by tens of thousands of blue tiles called “azulejos”. You can see these azulejos across the city in other spots too, including the station as mentioned earlier of São Bento. A 15-minute bus or train ride will get you to the beach to breath in some air from the Atlantic Ocean. You can either go to the lighthouse at Foz do Douro or head over to Senhor da Pedra’s beach, notable for its small church on the rocks! A visit to Porto (and Portugal in general) is not complete without eating a lot of pasteis de nata as well. They sell these yummy pastries everywhere, but some places are better than others: don’t miss those at Mantegaira and Combi cafè! #portugal #porto #ribeira #azulejos #travel #awesomepic
