Khao Khun Phanom, Phrom Khiri, Nakhon Si Thammarat

It is a small limestone mountain with dense trees covering it. It is believed that it was once the residence of King Taksin the Great who came to stay and ordain as a monk and practice Vipassana meditation. The entrance to the cave is on the east side. The entrance has two seven-headed stucco nagas spreading their hoods like a staircase. There are 245 levels in total. The middle of the nagas' bodies is carved into a Buddha image, sitting cross-legged, with eyes closed, in a circle surrounded by dewdrops and flower petals. Inside Khao Khun Phanom, there are many limestone caves with stalactites and stalagmites. Interesting ones include Tham Haew Tak Fa, Tham Phitsadan, Tham Nang Chi, Tham Phra, and Tham Lod.
