🌈Attraction features: Wat Chaiwatthanaram was built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong of the Ayutthaya Kingdom in memory of his mother, so it was also known as the Concubine Temple. At that time, Khmer-style architecture was popular, so the temple was designed in this style. It is also said that King Prasat Thong built it to commemorate the defeat of the Khmer and modeled it after Angkor Wat. In 1767, Ayutthaya was occupied by the Burmese army, and the palaces, temples, and other buildings in the city were all burned down. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was also severely damaged, with the Buddha statues beheaded and the treasures looted. However, due to its magnificent and solid architecture, the main structure was preserved. The ruins still show the splendor of the past. It is now a historical park in Ayutthaya, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram is better protected, making it an important historical and cultural heritage and tourist destination in Thailand. 🎟️Ticket information: Tickets are 50 baht per person for foreigners, and cheaper for locals. 🕐️Opening hours: Wat Chaiwatthanaram is usually open from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, but it is lit up after sunset and looks beautiful from outside the scenic area. 💗Other tips: There are about 100 ancient temple sites in Ayutthaya. I visited three of the more popular ones this time, and I was very impressed. I had been to Angkor Wat before, so when I saw the temple architecture here, it was as if I was back in Cambodia. The locals say that the temples are most beautiful at sunset, but as long as you are not in the blazing sun, the scenery is quite historical and suitable for photography.
