Step into Wat Phnom and experience the 600-year cultural history of Phnom Penh

Wat Phnom is a landmark building in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and a sacred place for locals to pray and worship. Wat Phnom is located at the top of Phnom Hill, with a 30-meter-high stupa dominating the hilltop, and a public leisure square at the foot of the hill. The seven-headed Naga sculpture seen at the entrance symbolizes 'good weather for the crops' and is regarded as a sacred symbol of the origin of the Cambodian nation and the protective deity of the kingdom's prosperity. Wat Phnom was built in the 14th century and contains a large number of Khmer-style bas-reliefs. The side halls next to it are filled with smoke from incense all year round, where Cambodians and people of all colors offer their gods, kneel devoutly, and burn incense. The temple is free to visit, and it is said that Phnom Hill is the highest place in Phnom Penh, from where you can overlook the entire city (but I didn't see it when I climbed to the top, maybe it was possible a long, long time ago 😌).
