Wat Chantawan Tok, an ancient temple on the banks of the Nan River

Wat Chan Tawan Tok is a temple located opposite Wat Chan Tawan Tok and near Suphan Kanlaya Bridge. It used to be the location of a village that used to have an old temple called Wat Rang Ngern. Later, there was an exodus of Lao people from Vientiane and a major fire broke out, so the villagers moved the temple to the Nan River. Currently, Wat Chan Tawan Tok is the center of the villagers' minds and has many outstanding architectures, such as the Maha Wihan Somdet Ong Phatom and Phra Phuttha Chedi Sa Luang, which enshrines the relics of the Lord Buddha. Highlights of the place: - Maha Wihan Somdet Ong Phatom enshrines a Buddha statue in the royal attire of the emperor. - Luang Pho Thong Lai Ma, a standing Buddha statue holding an alms bowl. - Phra Phuttha Chedi Sa Luang, where the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined. - A statue of Luang Pu Sun, a revered monk by the villagers.
