Today, I will introduce a road trip for camping enthusiasts. Pack your bags and set up your anchor. This trip, we intend to travel to Phu Hin Rong Kla and Thung Salaeng Luang tent sites in Phetchabun Province. Day 1 We started our journey from Don Mueang Airport using Phahonyothin Road heading to Saraburi Province. When we reached the Phu Kae intersection, we turned right onto Highway 21 Saraburi-Lomsak and continued driving into Phetchabun Province. Then, there will be a fork to turn left onto Highway 12. There will be a sign for Phu Thap Boek. Before the fork to Highway 2331, there will be a 7-11 and Big C Mini on the left side. Stock up on supplies first. The route up to Phu Thap Boek is quite narrow and steep with many curves. You must use low gear. Drive carefully. Drive up the hill until you reach the Thap Boek unit. There will be a viewpoint on the right side. On the left side, there will be a sign for Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. After paying the park entrance fee, drive for another 40 minutes until you reach the tent site. There is a convenience store at Phu Hin Rong Kla tent site that sells food. There is a place to pitch a tent and a house. Beautiful pine field with green grass and clean toilets. If you come on a weekday, there aren't many people. You can choose as you please. We stayed here for 1 night. The weather was very cool. Day 2: Wake up early to pack up and get ready to leave the field. From Phu Hin Rong Kla to Thung Salaeng Luang, we chose Highway 2331 to Nakhon Thai, Phitsanulok. Then there will be a fork to turn left onto Highway 2013 and drive straight to Khao Kho District. When you reach the Camp Son intersection, turn right to Ban Nong Mae Na. Before reaching the tent site, there will be a 7-11 branch at Thung Samo Market, the last stop, in case anyone needs to stock up on supplies. Drive past Nong Mae Na School for 600 meters, there will be a fork to turn right and there will be a grocery store at the entrance. When you reach the checkpoint and pay the park fee, drive for about 5 minutes to the tent site. Thung Salaeng Luang tent site is a wide lawn as far as the eye can see. There is a row of pine trees for parking and unpacking things. We stayed here for 1 night. There are toilets and shops, but they are not open at this time. It is recommended to bring food and snacks. The park area is very large. You can drive or ride a bicycle around. There are rentals. Day 3 Wake up early to pack up and get ready to go back. We drove back using the same route, which is Phetchabun, Saraburi, Bangkok. It took about 6 hours. For anyone who wants to drive around the forest or mountains like this, you have to prepare both your car and your people. Gas stations are also important because some places don't have gas stations along the way, especially on the way up the mountain.
