Journey Through Petra: Exploring Timeless Treasures and Hidden Gems!

Petra blew me away! The day began with excitement as you arrived at one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, Petra. The heat was already noticeable from early morning, so made sure to carry plenty of water. A sunhat and sunscreen! From the moment I stepped into the Siq, the narrow canyon that leads to the famous Treasury, I felt transported to another time. The stunning façade of Al-Khazneh (The Treasury) is even mire impressive up close - carved into the rose-red rock, it’s an iconic symbol of Petra’s grandeur. #visitpetra #historicallandmarks As the day goes on, you continue exploring deeper into Petra, heading towards the Royal Tombs and the vast amphitheater. The stone steps and rocky paths can be tough under the hot sun, but the views are worth every step. Each corner of Petra tells a story of a once-thriving Nabatean civilisation, and every view is breathtaking. The highlight? Hiking to the Monastery (Ad-Deir). While the climb is challenging, it rewards you with panoramic views and an awe-inspiring structure. If you are up for an adventure, it’s well worth it! #localguides Pro Tip: once you reach the Monastery, the terrace right in front of it offers breathtaking views of the valley below. I highly recommend having a break or lunch there! It’s also an ideal spot for taking photos with the Monastery in the foreground #panoramicviews #photography Recommendations for Petra: - Arrive early: the site opens around 6 am, and arriving early will not only help you avoid the heat but also the large crowds. - Stay hydrated and protected: the Jordanian sun can be unforgiving, specially during summer. -Comfortable footwear: Petra requires a lot of walking! The hike to the Monastery, in particular, can be taxing and can take around 40 minutes. - Enjoy Local Food: plan for a meal at one of the restaurants inside, it’s great to sit down in the shade for a break while trying some local cuisine. -Plan your day: Petra is massive, you will need at least one full day exploring the site. We spend around 8 hours! Extra Tip: you can also visit Petra by night. Don’t miss the chance to see the Treasury lit by hundreds of candles-it’s an unforgettable experience. Petra is more than just a historical site, it’s an adventure that brings you closer to the rich past of Jordan and leaves a lasting impression! #petra #ancientwonders #travelinspiration #jordantrip #adventure #bucketlistdestination #culture #heritage

Out of all the places I have been to in my life, Petra in Jordan was one of the most breathtaking locations I have had the chance to witness. From the breathtaking mood at night to the sheer scale of the rock carvings, everything was a pure breath of fresh air, and a time travel to the past. As we followed the Al-Khubtha trail to the top, we came to a little tent set up by some locals, who served us tea to enjoy the views with. Certainly a place I am dying to go back to, as this experience profoundly marked my heart with emotions and feelings 🇯🇴🐪 Pro tip, for the views from above, there are several locations, but I would recommend following the Al-Khubtha trail. it is a bit of a walk and hike, but you will definitely get to enjoy the views to yourself, away from the rest of the tourists. (Don’t listen to the local “fake” guides who would tell you that trail is closed so that they can bring you to another trail to earn commissions 😉)
