Petra's Magnificent Royal Tombs

The Royal Tombs of Petra are ancient Nabataean tombs with impressive monumental facades, including one of the largest facades in Petra. The Royal Tombs are a series of impressive and large mausoleums that have been carved into the Jabal al-Khubtha rock massif. While it is possible that they were tombs for royalty, this can't be proven due to the lack of archeological evidence found in the tombs. The Palace Tomb is the most impressive of the tombs, with three stories and a facade that resembles a palace. The Urn Tomb is suggested to belong to the Nabataean King Malchus II who died in 70 CE. The Silk Tomb takes its name from the majestic multi-colored layers of rock that appear like a silk drapery over a tomb. The Corinthian Tomb is located north of the Silk Tomb and is one of the most ornate tombs in Petra. #christmastrip
