Perth Mint...The City's Jewel in the crown

I could write so much about this place....but if I did I would spoil your experience! From the very beginning of the tour it was packed with such a lot of information that was not only factual, but delivered in a very entertaining way by the guide. I was held captivated throughout the whole experience and after the tour we were able to spend as long as we wanted, looking at all the gold! We even got a chance to touch an ingot which was in a vault that had a hole in a perspect viewing window! It truly is an amazing place to visit and witness gold being taken from the furnace and poured into a mould! Whilst waiting for the tour to begin ( every hour on the half hour) we were able to look around a sales area. which displayed jewellery of all descriptions, and pink diamonds! They were for sale... but the price tags were far too expensive for me! However, there is another more affordable sales area and as you exit the tour. there is a scale where you can see what your weight in gold is....I was over 8 million AUD!! You can also purchase a personally engraved 24ct Gold plated coin for a very reasonable price. All in all this was a magnificent golden opportunity to learn about gold from its origins to its discovery... development of the goldfields of Coolgardie and Kallgoolie...to its final state. If you are fortunate enough to visit the city of Perth...leave yourself plenty of time to visit this fabulous attraction.
