Chengdu has a little Cambodia

Longxing Temple has a long history. It was first built during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, nearly 1,700 years ago. It was originally called "Dakeng Temple," and was renamed "Dayun Temple" by Wu Zetian. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, an edict was issued to "order all counties to establish Longxing and Kaiyuan Temples," and it was named "Longxing Temple" since then, more than 1,300 years ago. During the Huichang Persecution of Buddhism, Longxing Temple was not spared and was abandoned. After Emperor Xuanzong ascended the throne, he ordered the restoration of Buddhism, and the temple was rebuilt by Master Yuzhi in 848. The most precious thing in the temple is the relic pagoda. It was originally a wooden structure during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and was rebuilt by Master Yuzhi with a dense-eave brick structure, made of blue bricks, with 17 dense eaves, and a height of 35 meters. It is one of the oldest pagodas in China and is famous for containing the relics of Sakyamuni. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the pagoda was damaged by an earthquake and split into two halves, forming a spectacle of two peaks standing side by side, which became a great wonder of Tianpeng. During the Republic of China, the pagoda had collapsed and was in danger of collapse. It was destroyed several times after liberation, and was finally completely demolished in 1992, and the current pagoda was rebuilt on the original site. The newly built pagoda is 81 meters high, with 17 dense eaves and a square shape. It is the tallest pagoda in Southeast Asia, surrounded by four corner pagodas, each 27 meters high, with 1,080 Buddha statues enshrined. The pagoda is modeled after the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India, with a unique style, no wonder it is called Cambodia in Chengdu. Now on the east side of the pagoda, there is still a model pagoda built by Master Nenghai after visiting India to obtain the model of the pagoda. The pagoda can be climbed, and there is a ticket office at the entrance, with a ticket price of 20 yuan. There is a brick ladder inside the pagoda that spirals upwards to the top of the pagoda, with various colorful Buddhist stories painted on the walls, and occasionally colorful Buddha statues. Tips: 1. Longxing Temple is free and does not require a reservation, but a ticket is required to climb the pagoda, with a ticket price of 20 yuan. 2. The nearby Daxan Beef, Liuji Juntun Guokui, and Su Erjie Tangyou Goose are delicious and can be arranged together.
