Longxing Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The ancient temple, surrounded by oleanders, on the outskirts of Chengdu remains undiscovered...
Greetings, I am Wu Suowei, a scribe and photographer who relishes the journey of travel. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Just an hour's journey from Chengdu, in Pengzhou, lies an exquisitely beautiful ancient temple. Initially, my visit was motivated by the stupa within the temple, but to my surprise, I was greeted by a vast expanse of bougainvillea, cascading down like a waterfall, providing a truly picturesque scene.
In addition to the bougainvillea, the hydrangeas in the garden were also in full bloom, albeit in lesser numbers.
The temple also houses an awe-inspiring relic stupa, one of the 19 existing Buddha relic stupas in 🇨🇳 China. With its 17 levels, it is truly a spectacular sight!
Unlike typical temples, the walls of Longxing Temple are yellow, and coupled with the architecture of the stupa, it gives the entire ancient temple an exotic charm.
Thank you for reading, until next time 👋🏻.
Drive for an hour from Chengdu, and you'll find the perfect escape plan here
I've come to Pengzhou for the third time. Setting off from the center of Chengdu on a weekday, it takes just over an hour to get here. It's the perfect destination for a city escape plan.
📷📷
Sightseeing:
The Longxing Temple in the center of Pengzhou has a Southeast Asian style. You can take photos and play inside, and climbing the tower offers a view of Pengzhou's urban area. There's a large teahouse in the temple, and when the sun is out, locals like to come here for tea and chat.
Gexian Mountain is a recommended attraction this season, with many farm stays and a profusion of flowers blooming in the mountains, including beautiful pear blossoms, peach blossoms, and rapeseed flowers.
🍲🍲
Dining:
There are many delicious foods around Longxing Temple, including crayfish, tofu pudding, hot pot, rabbit dishes, and the famous Laoxiang ice powder with an authentic taste. (We came to Pengzhou again just for this bowl of ice powder)
😄😄
Accommodation:
There are some homestays in the center of Pengzhou, hidden away in the city, very quiet. However, you can also stay in the suburbs, such as in Bailu Town or Lingbaoshuyuan, where the scenery is also nice.

Gexian Mountain Sceneic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Chengdu's stunning pear blossom sea, which is too beautiful to be made public, is free to visit
Hi everyone, I'm Ranran who loves to share travel experiences~
This is a free flower sea near Gexian Mountain, where the pear blossoms are now in full bloom.
The greenway is about 2.5km long, perfect for bringing family and children to enjoy the flowers, and then heading to a nearby farmhouse to drink tea and play mahjong~
The Pear Blossom Rural Library is quite interesting to visit and take photos.
If you have enough time, you can also visit Gexian Mountain, where the February orchids have also bloomed, and it's beautiful for photography.
Navigation: Pear Blossom Rural Library (Xiyu Village, Gexian Mountain Town, Pengzhou)
TIPS:
1. There are restrooms at nearby farmhouses, and parking is available.
2. The view from the mountain top is great for photography, and it's also picturesque under the pear trees.
3. As the weather gets warmer, remember to protect yourself from the sun, bring enough water, and there are snack stalls along the way.
4. The blossoms are only for a few days, so make the most of the time.
A 6-kilometer wild hiking adventure under Pengzhou Gexian Mountain
💪【Hidden Wonderland】A secret base within 1h reach from Chengdu, this cherry mountain hiking trail hidden at the foot of Gexian Mountain is definitely a treasure land that 99% of people have not unlocked! 🌳🏞️
🏞️【Ecological Scroll】Along the way, the cherry orchards spread all over the mountains 🍒, and May is just the picking season, preparing for a sweet and sour encounter. The mountain trails are primitive and simple, with every step being a view — the babbling streams 💦, the blooming wildflowers 🌸, the clusters of mushrooms 🍄, all compose a vivid ecological scroll.
🐞 The world of microorganisms is equally fascinating, with chance encounters with wild fish 🐟, catching crabs by the stream 🦀, and tracking the traces of geckos 🦎, offering endless fun for family trips, and the children never tire of it!
Hiking Data:
- Distance 🗺️: About 6 kilometers in total
- Duration ⏰: Approximately 3 hours
- Navigation 📍: The starting point is set at Pengzhou Huayuangu Gou Huaxi Mountain Villa
Wild Hiking Tips 💡:
- Travel reminder: As it is rarely visited, it is recommended to travel in groups for added safety 👥;
- Supply preparation: There are no supply facilities along the way, please bring your own drinking water and snacks 🍴;
- Route choice: The loop design is flexible, you can traverse in a loop or return the same way 🔄;
- Exploration tools: Bring a small net, and transform into a little fisherman during water-friendly moments, experiencing the fun of catching shrimp and fishing 🎣!
🌈 This is not just a 6-kilometer hike, but also a spiritual baptism deep into the belly of nature. Step onto the Cherry Mountain 🏞️, awaken the adventurous spirit sleeping in your heart, and let us find back that long-lost childlike innocence and freedom among the green valleys and streams. 🌟
Within 1 hour from Chengdu, the place is blooming with flowers
I took a day off to visit Pengzhou, and this is Pengzhou Gexian Mountain. Admission is 30 yuan per person.
P: We parked halfway up the mountain, and the parking fee was 10 yuan. During holidays, many cars park along the roadside, causing traffic congestion. It took us a long time to get down the mountain.
It's an easy hike, very suitable for someone like me who doesn't like to exercise. It's also perfect for wearing a skirt to take photos. Besides the stairs at the entrance, the paths in the scenic area are quite flat, suitable for bringing the elderly and children (but not a baby stroller).
One thing worth praising is that there are many chairs in the scenic area where you can sit and rest or have a picnic, as well as shaded areas. It's very comfortable to sit and enjoy the breeze when tired! There are vendors selling cold noodles, bean jelly, and dried tofu at the entrance of the scenic area, but no food is sold inside, so you can bring your own.
Take advantage of the spring bloom, fairies, and put on your beautiful skirts to take photos.

Sansheng Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Dreaming back to the ancient temples of the Tang Dynasty | The secluded Sansheng Temple in Pengzhou
Pengzhou is definitely worth bringing family and friends to check in and play!
The architecture of Sansheng Temple, the Buddha statues, the white pagoda, the gilded copper roof, the ancient trees, and the plum blossom deer... Quiet and mysterious, with a strong sense of ancient Zen.
The temple is currently being renovated, completely restoring the grandeur of the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
The temple architecture is very photogenic with the appearance of an ancient Han and Tang palace, with double eaves and octagonal corners, magnificent and splendid.
It's like dreaming back to the Tang Dynasty.
As soon as you enter the gate, you see three plum blossom deer,
they are very gentle and not afraid of people at all.
The white pagoda in the courtyard integrates the essence of Tibetan Buddhism and Han Buddhism,
adding more mystery to the religious culture of Sansheng Temple.
The quadrangle courtyard is surrounded by antique buildings,
the garden landscape in the courtyard is simple and Zen.
Arhat pine, five-needle pine, and black pine,
along with stones and buildings, form a picture on their own.
Very in line with the aesthetics of modern temples.

☀️ Yangping Xuan Observatory: The 'Shu King's Practice Site' in the bamboo forest. Inside the observatory, there is the world's smallest Daoist Eight Trigrams Pavilion. | A winding path leading to a secluded spot, deep in the forest a deer is spotted. "A winding path leading to a secluded spot, deep in the forest a deer is spotted" must be referring to this place.
🍃 The temple is very peaceful, and walking through it is incredibly comforting.
🍃 I was amazed as soon as I entered the temple; it's completely different from other temples, with Tang-style ancient architecture that feels like traveling back to the Tang Dynasty.
🍃 The central white pagoda adds a sense of mystery. I didn't expect to see deer here, but before leaving, I encountered them by chance, which made my visit feel complete.
🍃 Stepping out of the temple, I saw a stream, which is definitely a great spot for playing in the water during summer.

Haiwozi Ancient Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
A great hiking spot around Chengdu is the Yangping Xuan Guan thousand-acre Nan bamboo forest
🍀
Located in Pengzhou's Danjing Mountain, the Yangping Taoist temple
was once appointed by Zhang Daoling as the head of the twenty-four administrations under the religious geographical system
and holds a pivotal position in the history of Chinese Taoism.
🍀
Beside it lies a bamboo forest
with a total distance of 4.5 kilometers, consisting entirely of stone steps and slab paths.
It is very friendly for hiking novices and parents with children
and is most suitable for hiking and taking breaks.
🍀
Alone among the trees, where the bamboo shadows are sparse and the light is mottled,
it feels as if one is cut off from the world, quietly listening to the rain hitting the bamboo
which has its own charm.
🍀
If you make a reservation before 11 am at Yangping Xuan Guan, you can enjoy a vegetarian meal
After hiking, you can visit the nearby Haiwozi ancient town to stroll, eat, and drink tea
Braised goose in hot oil and oil cakes are local specialties
The overall cost of living in the ancient town is also not high
making it very suitable for relaxation and leisure.
😏
It is recommended to depart from Chengdu and arrive by car.

Chengdu Surroundings | A secluded, non-commercial ancient town nestled by the mountains and waters
I've discovered an off-the-beaten-path gem - Haiwozi Ancient Town!
🌈 It's not very famous, but the experience is superb.
Even on holidays, there are only a handful of tourists, creating a peaceful atmosphere full of life!
📍 Navigation: Haiwozi Ancient Town
🚗 Transportation: It's a 1.2-hour drive from downtown Chengdu, or you can take the high-speed train or bus to Pengzhou City and then take a bus to reach the town.
🎫 Ticket: Free
🅿️ Parking: 10 yuan
🍃 The ancient town is backed by the Longmen Mountain Range and faces the Jian River,
basking in the cool breeze of the riverside, it's not hot even in summer, and you can play in the water by the river and take pictures of the reeds.
🛖 The town has a history of over 200 years
and still retains the characteristics of Western Sichuan residential houses, with red lanterns hanging in front of every household and green plants and fresh flowers planted at the door.💐
🥘 There are many special local dishes
such as sesame cakes, goose in oil soup, fried rice cakes, pot helmets, beef, which are delicious and reasonably priced.
🍄 On even-numbered days, you can also go to the market
where you can find vegetables🥬, poultry🦆, freshly dug bamboo shoots, and kiwifruits🥝 from local farms, all brimming with the breath of life.
🚶♂️ After visiting the ancient town, you can go to nearby attractions
such as Yangping Xuan Bamboo Forest, Lion Mountain Fitness Trail, etc.
🌼 Tips
✅ It's recommended to go to the river dam to take pictures of the reeds in the evening, it's not sunny and makes for great photos
✅ Bring mosquito repellent, as there are many mosquitoes when playing in the nearby mountains

A cozy winter life begins with flowers blooming in the clouds
I visited a beautiful hot spring guesthouse in Pengzhou with my sisters this weekend!
As soon as I arrived at the entrance, I thought I was in Europe!
Their decor is all European style.
The accommodation includes villas🏡 with several rooms, hemp rooms, and also children's rooms, suitable for family/friends gatherings and trips,
Right behind the villa is a private hot spring, with tea snacks and red wine🍷, very enjoyable~
For lunch and dinner, you can have chicken soup downstairs, very fresh~
In the afternoon, you can also sit around the stove to brew tea~ and enjoy the snowy scenery❄️
It's wonderful~
A trip to the hot springs near Chengdu to see the snow
Chengdu people really have an obsession with snow.
This winter,
without going to the Northeast,
right in the vicinity of Chengdu,
we saw a world of white snow.
We arrived just as it was snowing,
and the surrounding trees🌲 had all put on white clothes.
It was so beautiful,
like a fairy tale world.
We ate barbecue and drank tea🍵,
and then enjoyed the hot springs while admiring the snow.
It's the slow life that people in Chengdu love.
Just checked out and will come again next time! It's so romantic to enjoy the hot spring while watching the snow
-
In Pengzhou❗️❗️What's the experience of soaking in a hot spring in the snow❓
Experienced the hot spring of ice❄ and fire🔥
The fact is, it's not cold at all 🥶
In the warm hot spring pool, watching the snow while drinking champagne🍾
Extremely satisfied, comfortable and cozy
-
The booking also included afternoon tea, the experience was very good
The butler even asked us in advance what time we would like to dine the next day
The result is, I slept so comfortably that I woke up at noon
-
The room has floor heating, electric blanket and a small balcony to watch the snow❄
The cost performance is really good, the service is also good, and there is a dedicated parking lot which is very convenient
At Pengzhou private hot spring! It's so good to stay
Long-lost blue sky and white clouds were seen in Pengzhou
Just after the snow, the sky cleared up, looking at it makes the mood refreshing
Vibrant plants and trees
Quiet stone path, white walls and red railings...
They are all good places for taking pictures📸
Each room has floor heating
It's very suitable for bringing family to play
Bathing in the sun, in the private hot spring pool
Perhaps the city is too noisy
Perhaps the scenery of the homestay is too healing
When leaving, still reluctant to leave
