City walks are the best way to experience a city. In Kuala Lumpur and Penang, we explored the cities on foot, walking more than 10,000 steps a day. 1. Kuala Lumpur: 2 Days 1. City Walk: Explore the city and visit iconic landmarks. Walk to nearby places and take public transport to places further away. 2. Petronas Twin Towers: The iconic landmark of Kuala Lumpur, including Suria KLCC (Sunshine Plaza) at the base of the towers. The towers look different during the day and at night. 3. Petaling Street: Also known as Chinatown, this is a pedestrian street. 4. Central Market: A place to buy handicrafts, art, and souvenirs. 5. Merdeka Square: A landmark of Malaysia's independence, with many attractions nearby. Visit the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the City Gallery, and the "LOVEKL" sculpture; see the clock tower (Sultan Abdul Samad Building); visit the National History Museum and Memorial Library. 6. Jamek Mosque: Next to Merdeka Square. Check the opening hours. 7. River of Life: A river in the city center next to Merdeka Square. 8. Double-decker Bus Tour: Take a 2-hour tour during the day or at night to see the main landmarks of Kuala Lumpur. 9. Day Trip: Visit the Putra Mosque and the Moroccan Pavilion in Putrajaya, and see the Prime Minister's Office from the outside. Check the opening hours of the mosque. 2. Penang: 1 Day 1. City Walk: Explore the city. Many attractions in Penang are close together, and some areas are very congested, so walking is the best option. 2. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion: A 100-year-old mansion built by a wealthy Chinese merchant. 3. Esplanade: See European-style buildings, the City Hall, and the sea view. The Cenotaph is located here. 4. Georgetown: See the street art, UNESCO World Heritage buildings, Central Fire Station, religious sites (Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian), and the Pinang Peranakan Mansion. Enjoy the different architectural styles and the rich history of cultural exchange. 5. Batu Ferringhi Beach: Enjoy the sea view, sea breeze, and sand. Relax and unwind.
