Around Pécs, (Hungary) at the foot of the Mecsek Mountains

Mecsek is a mountain range in southern Hungary. It is situated in the north of the city of Pecs. The Mecsek Hills consist of plateau-like block mountains of a broken, folded structure. Its basis is crystalline rock of Variscan origin surmounted by Triassic and Jurassic limestone and dolomite and Tertiary formations that form the main block. The climate is mixed and represents elements of the mediterranean and continental climate. The territory is home to 20-30 plant species which are unknown in other parts of the Carpathian Basin. If you just visit the mountain from Pecs you can find several lookout towers, Misina peak, TV tower, Kis-Tubesi lookout tower, Sos-hegyi lookout tower, Rauch Janos lookout tower, Eger-tetoi lookout tower. There are other sights nearby, Kanta castle old tower ruin, White well, Arpad cap etc. I did several nice hikes there.
