Cango Caves: A Natural Wonder in South Africa

#getgoing2025 Cango Caves: A Natural Wonder in South Africa The Cango Caves, located near Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, are one of South Africa’s most renowned natural attractions. These stunning limestone caves, formed millions of years ago, feature impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and crystal formations, creating a surreal underground landscape. Visitors can explore the caves on guided tours, with options for all levels. The Heritage Tour is ideal for those seeking an easier, informative walk through the main chambers, while the Adventure Tour takes you deeper into the cave system, with narrow passages and thrilling climbs for more experienced explorers. Tips: • Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, as the cave floor can be uneven and slippery. • Bring a jacket, as temperatures inside the caves are cool year-round. • Book tours in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. The Cango Caves offer a fascinating experience, showcasing South Africa’s geological beauty and offering an unforgettable adventure for all types of visitors.

#getgoing2025 We had an excellent stay at Tenseien. We took a room with private onsen on the balcony which is a fantastic experience; the view was beautiful on a mountain with two cascades but it remained very intimate at the same time. The room was in traditional Japanese style with futon. It was a great Japanese experience. We also were lucky to see the cherry blossom and there is a long alley of cherry trees in front of the hotel which made it even prettier. The only caveat is that dinner is only a buffet and while it is of good quality, it is not at the same level of quality as the room. We would have appreciated a menu, even at a slightly higher price, to have a perfect experience. The buffet was fun, though, to have an overview of some Japanese specialities.
