Baumkuchen from Izu Oshima

#besttrip2023 Izu Oshima, a park of the earth. A cross section of the strata on the southwest coast, commonly known as "Baumkuchen". It was discovered by chance in 1953 during construction of the road around Oshima. It is said to be a 15,000-year-old memory of the earth caused by a major eruption. Looking out to sea, you can see the islands of Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, and Kozushima, and the breathtaking view with a sense of openness will make you feel refreshed. I think you can do a lot of sightseeing by renting a car for one night and two days. I was able to enjoy nature at a leisurely pace.
