There are several stores that serve kuridango in the hot spring town of Naruko, but it started with a mochi store that was established in Naruko Onsen at the end of the Meiji period. The store devised it to create a snack that would please the guests who were visiting the hot springs. It quickly became popular, and the guests came to the store with a tiered box in hand and bought kuridango. Everyone was fascinated by the wonderful combination of freshly made plump mochi, warm soy sauce bean paste, and large chestnuts. The expiration date is basically the same day. It is recommended to eat the kuridango while the warmth remains in the souvenir pack.
