Yoshino-Kumano National Park, lying on the Kii Peninsula The Odaigahara, located in Kamikita Village, adjacent to southeastern Nara Prefecture and Mie Prefecture, is 1,600-1,700m above sea level and is divided into two areas, Higashi-Odai and Nishi-Odai. The Nishi-Odai area, designated as a usage adjustment area, requires a mountain entry application and permission, while Higashi-Odai can be climbed without permission. The highlight of the Higashi-Odai course is this "Daijagura". Gura is an old word for rock, meaning "cliff" or "rock wall". It is characterized by rocks that jut out like the back of a snake, and the slope on top of a cliff at a considerable height makes it a thrilling ride that will make you scream and shake your legs! The rock surface is a little slippery, so it's impossible to reach the tip unless it's a sunny day. Despite the risk of falling into the valley in an instant if you lose your balance, daredevils line up to see this breathtaking view. However, most of them were hesitant to make it to the tip. By the way, Odaigahara is a rainy region with an annual precipitation of 3,500 mm, comparable to Yakushima. Despite this, the day we visited was blessed with clear skies, and Higashi-Odai was at its best with the autumn leaves at their peak! There is a beathtaking and thrilling view from the edge of Daija-gura, but we have to walk down slowly to the edge on the slippery dangerous rock as the 2nd photo. Most people are not standing straight to get there because of the fear. Mt. Ohdaigahara consists of Higashi(East)-Ohdai and Nishi(west)-Ohdai areas. Higashi-Ohdai including Daija-gura is not necessary for the entry permit, but Nishi-Ohdai is necessary for it because of the designated and A preserved vargin forest.
