This is the most beautiful railway in the world! I rode the Sri Lankan Tea Train 🇱🇰

#0yentravelFebruary2025 I went to Sri Lanka because I wanted to ride this! Recently, this train was used in the commercial for Afternoon Tea featuring SnowMan's Meguro. The train was originally used to transport tea, but now it has become a very popular tourist train with an increasing number of tourists. This train runs freely through the tea fields, and since it runs at a high altitude, the timing of looking down at the tea fields was very beautiful and I couldn't stop taking pictures📷 The seats are assigned, but the train doors are basically open while the train is running, so I sat there and looked at the scenery the whole time! It seems that it is also popular to take photos while leaning out, and many people were enjoying taking photos. I also tried leaning out when the speed slowed down, but it was nerve-wracking lol For some reason, the train stopped at a spot with a good view along the way, and everyone got off and had time to take photos. The train I booked was called Dunhinda Odyssey, and it seems that it has been newly increased for tourism. It took about 4 hours to get from Kandy Station to Nuwara Eliya (Nanu Oya Station), and the fare was LKR: 6000 (about 3000 yen) 💰 It was a third-class car, but the interior was clean and fine! I made the reservation in advance on the Sri Lanka Railways website. It was in English, but I managed to purchase it with the help of Google Translate! I received something like an e-ticket, which I exchanged for a paper ticket at Kandy Station the day before. One thing to note is that it runs through a highland area, so it's quite cold! A long-sleeved jacket is a must! When I arrived in Nuwara Eliya, it had the atmosphere of a highland resort 🌿 There are several tea factories, so you can enjoy sightseeing 🫖 I arrived in Nuwara Eliya around 13:30, and then went to visit a tea factory called Damro Tea Factory - Labookellie Tea Lounge. The tour (only in English) and a free cup of tea after the tour!! The tea was very delicious, and I even had a refill (for a fee). The tea cakes (charged) are not too sweet and are also suitable for Japanese tastes, so I recommend them as they are very delicious. They also sell a lot of tea souvenirs, so please visit. It was a whirlwind plan, so I stayed in Nuwara Eliya for one night, and the next morning I returned to Colombo by bus from Nuwara Eliya's main bus station 🚌 (about 5 hours) It was a short time, but being able to ride the tea railway to Nuwara Eliya, the tea producing region, was a very good memory!
