🍃 Ceylon Tea Plantations

Ceylon was the name for Sri Lanka till 70s of the last century. This island is a motherland for Ceylon tea and the best tea plantations are in Nuwara Eliya that’s why I went to celebrate my birthday there. If you want to see how the tea is made - go to the tea factories. The most famous and the biggest is DAMRO factory, you can have a tour around the factory but only from one spot when you are standing behind the glass. Please also note that you cannot walk along tea plantations there or touch tea leaves growing there. The only possible way is to buy a safari along their plantations which is not cheap. But if you want to see the production process closely and to see the equipment they use (of 100 years old sometimes) - go to Blue Field Factory. There you can even walk along the tea plantations and pretend that you are collecting a tea: in that case you will be given a basket and a bandana. A very nice experience 😉 Each factory is serving tea at the end of the tour: black tea is for free, green and white are for additional payment.
