Review of Krung Ching Waterfall, Khao Luang National Park, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province Krung Ching Waterfall is located in Nopphitam District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, within the boundaries of Khao Luang National Park. This natural attraction holds significant historical and environmental importance. In the past, this area served as a hideout for Chinese communist insurgents. Today, it has been developed into a nature learning site for students, researchers, and birdwatchers from both Thailand and abroad. Krung Ching Waterfall is one of the most renowned birdwatching spots in southern Thailand. Every morning, numerous birdwatchers gather to explore the diverse bird species in the forested area. Interestingly, the waterfall was once featured on the Thai 1,000-baht banknote issued in 1992, reflecting its cultural and aesthetic significance. The hiking trail to the waterfall spans approximately 4.9 kilometers from the park's headquarters. The first 4 kilometers of the trail are relatively easy and not too steep. However, the final 900 meters consist of a steep spiral staircase, which may not be suitable for those with physical limitations. Along the trail, visitors can enjoy the rich natural surroundings, including butterflies, insects, wild mushrooms, leeches, mountain crabs, and dense clusters of Ching trees. Due to the pristine nature of the area, visitors are advised to strictly adhere to the rules, such as maintaining silence to avoid disturbing wildlife and the surrounding environment. For safety reasons, it is recommended to contact park officials for guidance before embarking on the journey. Park staff are available to assist if arrangements are made in advance.
