Wat Chaloem Phrakiat, Thai-Chinese architecture on the banks of the Chao Phraya River

Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan is a beautiful temple on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It is located near the Maha Chetsadabodin Bridge in Nonthaburi Province. It was the last temple built by King Rama III before his death. Construction began in 1847. There are many interesting things at this temple, such as the Ubosot, which King Rama III ordered to be built in a Thai-Chinese architectural style, following his royal preference. The roof of the Ubosot is covered with Chinese-style corrugated terracotta tiles. The gable is decorated with brightly colored glazed tiles from China, decorated with leaves and peony flowers. Inside, you will find the "Phra Phuttha Maha Lokapinanthapatima", the principal Buddha image in the Ubosot. It is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, cast from copper. In addition, there are two chapels on either side of the temple. The white pagoda stands out.
