The geographical coordinates are between 111°54'19" and 112°3'25" east longitude and 25°12'34" and 25°18'34" north latitude. It is 11 kilometers wide from north to south and 15.5 kilometers long from east to west. It borders Lanshan National Forest Park in Lanshan County in the southeast, Xiangjiang Township in Jianghua County in the southwest, Hongtangying Township in Dao County in the west, and Jiuyi Mountain in Ningyuan County in the northeast and northwest. Origin of the name: Jiuyi Mountain got its name from Emperor Shun's southern tour. It is named because there are nine peaks in the area, namely Shunyuan, Ehuang, Nvying, Qilin, Shicheng, Shilou, Zhuming, Xiaoshao and Guilin, and each peak is similar and difficult to distinguish. "Records of the Grand Historian: The Basic Annals of the Five Emperors" states: "Shun died in the wilderness of Cangwu during his southern tour and was buried in Jiuyi in the south of the Yangtze River. According to the elders, Shun once climbed this mountain." According to legend, Shun died in the mountains during his southern tour and was buried in front of the mountain. His two concubines, Ehuang and Nvying, traveled thousands of miles to look for him, going upstream along the Xiaoshui River and downstream along the Xiaozijing River; but as the nine peaks looked similar, it was puzzling and they never found him. Both Qin Shihuang and Emperor Wu of Han worshipped Yu Shun at Mount Jiuyi.
