Lugu Lake

Lugu Lake is located at the border between Yanyuan County of Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan Province and Ninglang County of Lijiang City in Yunnan Province, jointly administered by both provinces. The lake stretches from northwest to southeast, covering an area of 50.1 square kilometers. Lugu Lake is a plateau fault dissolution subsidence lake, belonging to the Litang River system, a tributary of the Yalong River, which is a tributary of the Jinsha River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. As the source of the Xiaojin River, it flows into the Jinsha River via the Yalong River. With an average depth of 40.3m, it is China's third deepest lake. The lake area is primarily inhabited by the Mosuo people, Yi, and Pumi ethnic groups. Its beautiful natural environment and unique ethnic customs have made it a famous tourist destination.
