Beilun Windmill Highway

Zongtaishan is one of the important military fortresses in the history of eastern Zhejiang. The beacon tower ruins on the mountain, which were first established during the early Ming dynasty by Tang He to resist the Japanese pirates, were originally known as the Santashan Beacon Tower. They have been well preserved to this day and are now called the Zongtaishan Beacon Tower. The Zongtaishan Beacon Tower is listed as a patriotic education base in Ningbo City and is also included in the Zhejiang Province cultural relics protection sites. From atop Zongtaishan, one can overlook the Chuanshan Harbor and gaze out at the Zhitudao Ocean, enjoying the vast and magnificent scenery. In recent years, with the promotion of new energy wind power generation, Ningbo has successively built eight wind farms. On Zongtaishan and across the entire Chuanshan Peninsula, a wind farm has also been constructed. To facilitate the construction of the wind farm, a special road was built to ascend the mountain, known as the Chuanshan Peninsula Windmill Highway. Ningbo has a total of eight beautiful windmill highways, and the Chuanshan Peninsula Windmill Highway is one of them. It is a great destination for leisure travel, mountain climbing, and hiking.
