The Ningbo Tianfeng Pagoda is a record of ancient pagodas

It is the first batch of municipal key cultural relics protection units, located in Dashani Street, Haishu District, Ningbo City, on the southeast side of the county temple (City God Temple). It was originally built during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty, in the years of Tian Ce Wan Sui and Wan Sui Deng Feng (695-696). It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times throughout the dynasties. In the third year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1798), it caught fire during a renovation, leaving only the brick pagoda body. It was restored to its current state after a reconstruction in 1984. The existing Tianfeng Pagoda is a typical Song Dynasty style pagoda, with thirteen levels of light and dark. The first level has a subsidiary staircase encircling it, and the six faces of the pagoda body are equipped with pot-shaped doors. The eaves are cleverly upturned. It was once the commanding height of the ancient city of Mingzhou, but now it is partially hidden among the clusters of modern buildings. The surrounding area has been turned into Tianfeng Park, where a bowl-shaped pagoda spire from the second year of the Yuan Dynasty's Tianli era (1329) is placed, as well as several ancient steles from Yinxian County.
