A Grand welcome to Toshogu Shrine, the Omotemon and the Gojunoto Five Story Pagoda

#summervacay The Toshogu shrine is a lavish memorial to Tokugawa Ieyasu which established the Tokugawa shogunate. The main entrance, Omotemon stands before the crowds adorned in red with its intricate carvings with its imposing guardians. Afterwards, a magnificent five story pagoda, Gojunoto, towers above us. The pagoda itself is beatifully crafted with intricate carvings and paintings but the inside is not available to be viewed. Certainly majestic pieces of art! #nikkojapan
