Nikko Toshogu Shrine: A Cultural and Historical Gem

Nikko Toshogu Shrine is the revered burial site of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, and holds a prestigious position in Japan. Influenced by Tang Dynasty culture, the architectural style of Nikko Toshogu Shrine incorporates features of ancient Chinese tombs and temples, with a north-south orientation, symmetrical layout, and a solemn and majestic atmosphere. Transportation to Toshogu Shrine: From Tobu Nikko Station, take the 'World Heritage' bus and get off at Shinkyo Station. Buses run every 15 minutes, with the first and last buses operating from 9:00 to 17:00. Opening Hours: From April 1 to October 31, the shrine is open from 8:00 to 17:00; from November 1 to March 31, it is open from 8:00 to 16:00. Entry is stopped 30 minutes before closing. Tickets: General admission for adults and high school students is 1,300 yen, and for elementary and junior high school students, it is 450 yen (includes all parts of the shrine). A combined ticket for Toshogu Shrine and the Treasure Museum is 2,100 yen for adults and high school students, and 770 yen for elementary and junior high school students. The Treasure Museum ticket is 1,000 yen for adults and high school students, and 400 yen for elementary and junior high school students. The Art Museum ticket is 800 yen for adults, 600 yen for high school students, and 400 yen for elementary and junior high school students.
