[Fukushima] Mount Adatara, one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, offers breathtaking views

Mt. Adatara is one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, located in Fukushima Prefecture. During the autumn foliage season, the entire mountain surface is dyed red and yellow, creating a breathtaking view. This time, we aimed to reach the summit of Mt. Adatara via Mt. Yakushi. In addition to the mountain trail, you can also reach Mt. Adatara by taking the Adatara Mountain Ropeway, which takes about 10 minutes to the summit station. From the summit station, it takes about 75 minutes to reach the summit. Below the ropeway, you can see the cityscape from Koriyama City to Fukushima City, the Abukuma mountain range, the Zao mountain range in the distance, and the spectacular view of Mt. Azuma Kofuji. You can also reach Mt. Yakushi by walking about 5 minutes from the ropeway summit station. It was a weekday afternoon, but the autumn leaves were at their peak, so it was crowded. This time, the ropeway was out of service due to strong winds, so we walked about 1 hour and 20 minutes on the mountain trail from the Okudake trailhead, passed Mt. Yakushi, and then took another 80 minutes to reach the summit of Mt. Adatara. The ropeway was running on the way down, so I used it. Even I, a beginner at mountain climbing, was able to go. There was a strong wind at the top of the mountain, but I was simply moved by the spectacular autumn leaves.
