The museum was established in November 2000 and is the first ceramics-themed museum in Taiwan. The main building is made of plain water and steel frame structure, and the whole glass design not only increases the light intake but also allows for inside and outside perspective. Yingge District is a major center for ceramic manufacturing in Taiwan, so it is a blessing for the Yingge District to be able to build an international ceramic museum in this place.
