Xizhi's Fushin Hotel Taipei - A High Value-for-Money, Five-Star Home Away from Home

This was a serendipitous purchase of a travel fair accommodation voucher. At the time of purchase, I didn't realize it was a five-star hotel, as the price was as affordable as a guesthouse. The voucher cost NT$2,999 for a double room, including breakfast. The main reason for the purchase was the hotel's parking lot, which is large and offers free shuttle service to the train and MRT stations. In the north, accommodation costs aren't the issue; parking fees are. I once rented a guesthouse for NT$1,000, and the parking fee was NT$500 per day, which was quite painful. The hotel is conveniently located for both self-driving and public transportation (shuttle services are complimentary). On my birthday, I received a birthday wish and a cake from the hotel, which made me very happy. The general manager's signature on the greeting card was authentic, not printed, showing genuine sincerity. Upon entering the room, there were welcome snacks and drinks. I stayed in a deluxe room with a small sofa, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a separate bathtub for wet and dry areas. The room met the standard five-star specifications, was very clean, and the bed was comfortably firm. I had a good night's sleep during my three-night stay. The public area includes a gym and SPA. I love the SPA because it operates on a reservation system via phone, limiting entry to no more than ten people at a time. Since I visited on a weekday, I only encountered another guest once, and the rest of the time I had the place to myself! It includes an oven, steam room, and there's no limit on the number of uses. The facilities are gender-separated, and you can use them without a swimsuit (they also provide shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, hair tie, and shower cap). After soaking, you can go back to your room clean and ready for a good night's sleep. For breakfast, the hotel offers a buffet with a variety of hot drinks and both Western and Eastern dishes. I often see international guests during meal times, possibly because the hotel is close to the Nangang Exhibition Center, making it a popular choice for exhibition attendees and business travelers. I particularly recommend their 'Taiwanese Beef Porridge.' As someone who's half Tainanese and used to fresh beef, I found the beef in the porridge to be exceptionally fresh and delicious. It's rare to find a yogurt station in Taiwanese hotels where you can add your choice of jam. This not only satisfies foodies but also offers yogurt and salad for those who prefer lighter meals. Regarding service, the staff here are well-trained. As someone with a background in hospitality, I can tell that the hotel employs selected staff rather than interns or part-time working students. Even the shuttle driver and the SPA cleaner speak fluent English and exhibit professionalism. The hotel caters to both leisure and business travelers, perhaps leaning more towards business. However, when asked for recommendations on where to eat or what to do, the staff are always willing to help. Next to the hotel is a large claw machine arcade, which is open late and offers a fun diversion with many snack machines. We spent NT$500 and won two plush toys, which we shared with the hotel reception staff. The soundproofing is good, the rooms are clean, and the price is surprisingly affordable (standard rooms can also be booked online for just over NT$2,000). Next time I visit Taipei, this will still be my first choice for accommodation. Address: No. 128, Section 1, Datong Rd, Xizhi District, New Taipei City
