Lotus Temple

The Lotus Temple (कमल मंदिर) is a Bahá'í house of worship in New Delhi, India. Opened in December 1986, it is known for its lotus shape and has become a major tourist attraction in Delhi. Although a Bahá'í temple, it is open to people of all faiths. The "petal" structure consists of 27 marble-covered concrete petals, arranged in groups of three, creating a nine-sided form with nine doors leading into an interior hall that is 34.27 meters (111 ft) high and has a seating capacity of 2,500. The Lotus Temple has received numerous architectural design awards. In 2001, CNN reported that it was the "most visited building in the world".
