Extraordinary place of killing stone

The 'Killing Stone', associated with the legend of the nine-tailed fox in Nasu Yumoto, gained attention when it cracked in March 2022. According to legend, during the late Heian period, a nine-tailed fox transformed into a beautiful woman and attempted to assassinate Retired Emperor Toba. However, an onmyoji saw through the disguise, and the fox was subsequently killed and turned into stone. The stone is said to emit toxic gases like hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, believed to be the fox's lingering resentment. The large rock continues to release poison to this day.
