In the spirit of discovery I decided to visit the Andrew Jackson hermitage museum. I found it historically significant that a former president was also a slave owner and I thought that by examining this historic site that it would help me to come to grips with this disturbing fact. While you’re there don’t just visit the mansion and the manicured lawns, I suggest you visit the former slave quarters in the back and see for yourself what life was like just a little over 100 years ago and the Americas. Coincidently my visit coincided with Andrew Jackson’s birthday. much like many presidents of today Andrew Jacksons presidency was riddled with controversy and scandal. Go to the Andrew Jackson hermitage museum and learn facts about this amazing man that will be both enlightening and disturbing at the same time.
