Japan Great Naruto Bridge

#Japan Attractions Onaruto Bridge is a bridge over the Naruto Strait between Fukurabe, Minamiawaji City, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan and Tosadomariura, Naruto Town, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. It was opened to traffic on June 8, 1985. The bridge is 1,629 meters long, with a maximum central span of 876 meters, a road width of 25 meters, and a main tower height of 144.3 meters. In order to avoid mutual influence with the Naruto Whirlpool in the Naruto Strait, the bridge piers adopt the "multi-column foundation method". The bridge deck design consists of two levels, the upper level is designed to have six lanes in both directions, but the actual road is now four lanes in both directions. Because there is the Naruto Whirlpool, a famous tourist attraction in Tokushima, on the sea under the bridge, in 2000 Tokushima Prefecture used the space reserved for the railway under the bridge to set up a 450-meter-long tourist trail called "Whirlpool Road" from the Naruto side, allowing tourists to walk directly from under the bridge to about 45 meters above the whirlpool to view the whirlpool. The current in the strait is the fastest in Japan and the fourth fastest in the world, reaching up to 20 km/h during high tides, but the world's number one is the Salt Current in Bodø, Norway, which reaches up to 37 km/h (Figure 9). The main consideration in building a bridge is its function. Once it is built and put into use, its touristic nature will naturally emerge. In this respect, the Onaruto Bridge is far superior to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.
