Tianzifang was originally named Zhichengfang and was built in 1930. Painter Wang Yayun and his family once lived in the Yinyun Building and founded the "Lishe". In 2001, Huang Yongyu renovated five idle factories in Lane 210, Taikang Road[1] and renamed it to its current name, which is homophonic with Tian Zifang, the oldest Chinese painter recorded in the Records of the Grand Historian. In 2005, Tianzifang was listed among the top ten creative industry clusters in Shanghai. There are a variety of architectural styles mixed together in the block, covering eclecticism, neo-Renaissance, modernism, traditional Chinese brick and wood structure, Spanish style, British castle style, and Baroque style. Shikumen has the most diverse architectural styles, with more than 20 types. There are bars, galleries, art studios, shopping shops, etc. in the square, and old Shanghai residents live there.
