Wujie Tribe｜The secret place of the Bunun people in Ren'ai Township, Nantou, a natural feast of sea of ​​clouds and canyons

🚗 Transportation • Driving by yourself: Take National Highway 3 to Wufeng Interchange, then take National Highway 6, get off at Ailan Exit, and continue along Provincial Highway 14 toward Puli. Continue along South Ring Road (take Township Road 72-1), turn left onto Township Road 72, turn right onto Township Road 71, and drive about 14 kilometers to reach Wujie Tribe. • Public Transportation: Take Nantou Bus Route 1 from Puli Terminal, get off at Jieshan Station, and walk about 600 meters to Wujie Tribe. ⸻ 📝 Personal experience Wujie Tribe is located in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County. It is an aboriginal community of the Zhuo community of the Bunun people and the northernmost branch of the Bunun people in Taiwan. The name of the tribe "Wujie" comes from the Bunun word "Buqaiv", which means "climbing over". Because the tribe is surrounded by mountains, in the early years they had to cross mountains and ridges to communicate with the outside world.   Wujie Village has magnificent natural scenery, with the Zhuoshui River and the Lisu River flowing through it, forming a canyon terrain with high mountains and deep valleys. Every morning, the rising water vapor meets the cold air from the mountains, and a dreamy sea of ​​clouds is often seen, earning it the reputation of "the hometown of clouds."   There are many popular attractions around the tribe, including: • Wujie Dam: Built during the Japanese colonial period, it is a weir that carries water from the Zhuoshui River to Sun Moon Lake for storage, regulation and power generation.  • Momonar Falls: A magnificent waterfall, suitable for hiking enthusiasts. • Wujie Yitiantian: A unique terrain created by the long-term cutting of the Zhuoshui River. The towering cliffs are divided into two parts and extend to the horizon.  • Wujie Milk Lake: The lake water is milky white and the scenery is picturesque. In addition, the "Green Light Primary School" in the tribe is the filming scene of the idol drama "Green Light Forest". It retains the wooden house buildings of that time and has become a popular photo-taking spot.
