Jiufeng Mountain's strategic position is critical, a place of military contention. Wen Tianxiang set up the Governor's Mansion in Yanping to command the army against the Yuan, defending Jiufeng and shielding Fuzhou. Jiufeng Mountain now has a zoo with rare animals such as South China tigers, leopards, macaques, elephants, and hippos, and also features an aquarium, peacock garden, and more.
