The vanguard of overwintering migratory birds has arrived in Nanjing

This year's first batch of cormorants, as the vanguard of overwintering migratory birds, has flown to Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing, kicking off the "Houhu Flying Ducks" season. Xuanwu Lake, historically known as Sangbo or Houhu, is located at the foot of Zhongshan Mountain. It is one of the largest imperial garden lakes in China and, along with Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing and West Lake in Hangzhou, is known as one of the "Three Famous Lakes of Jiangnan." The lake is divided into five green islets, gathering numerous famous scenic spots and historical sites. Visitors can stroll around the lake to enjoy the scenery or take a boat ride to appreciate the city views. In spring, visit Yingzhou to enjoy cherry blossoms; in summer, admire the vast blooming lotus flowers. Around the islets, there are rockeries and waterfalls; from Lingzhou, you can overlook Zhongshan Mountain; Liangzhou features a bonsai garden, and Cuizhou is lush and green.
