Niushou Mountain Buddha's Crown Palace

🌟Nanjing is a city rich in cultural heritage, having served as the capital of ten dynasties. It is also a modern metropolis, acting as the provincial capital of Jiangsu for many years after the founding of the People's Republic. Yet, Nanjing is also a city of sorrow, bearing witness not only to imperial tombs but also to the horrific Nanjing Massacre. May this beautiful city continue to thrive! ❇️Niushou Mountain A victim of war, this area was once Nanjing's iron ore resource, completely exploited by invaders, leaving only a 60-meter-deep pit. The construction of Buddha's Crown Palace transformed this pit into a sacred Buddhist site. ✅Buddha's Crown Palace This temple enshrines a sacred Buddhist relic—the parietal bone of Sakyamuni, the only one of its kind in the world. Passed down from the original 18 stupas, it was later placed in Changgan Temple during the Ming Dynasty, now the site of Dabao'en Temple. In 2016, it was ceremoniously moved to Niushou Mountain. The Buddha's parietal bone naturally protrudes in a topknot shape, a rare and sacred form unseen among ordinary people. It is enshrined on the lowest level (the sixth floor) and is open for public veneration for only 20 days each year. ✳️Buddha's Crown Pagoda A nine-story pagoda where visitors ascend on foot, circling clockwise in worship. The steps below the pagoda are lined with numerous ginkgo trees, while the only two bodhi trees are enclosed in iron railings to protect these warmth-loving plants. 🎫Ticket: 160 yuan (140 yuan if purchased in advance). 🚌Shuttle bus: 20 yuan round trip, accessible from either the West or East Gate. The shuttle stops at the base of the steps, where escalators are available for the ascent. 🍽️Dining: Options are available at Buddha's Crown Palace or the shuttle bus waiting area.
