Jiangnan Examination Hall.

Jiangnan Examination Hall is located at No. 95 Gongyuan Street, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It was built in the fifth year of the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty (1454) and was the venue for the provincial examination during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is now the China Imperial Examination Museum. Jiangnan Examination Hall faces south and covers an area of 300,000 square meters. There were originally wooden archways on the east and west sides outside the main gate, which are now roads along with the main gate and Longmen Gate. Inside Longmen Gate are Mingyuan Tower and Zhigong Hall, with examinee dormitories on both sides. To the north is Feihong Bridge, which crosses a pond and serves as the boundary between the inner and outer examiners. Hengjian Hall was originally built to the north of the bridge, but was converted into a market during the Republic of China period. Now only Mingyuan Tower, Feihong Bridge, and 22 examination hall steles remain. Jiangnan Examination Hall was once the venue for the provincial examination during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is a physical resource for studying the evolution of the examination hall system and the imperial examination system during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
